Bragging rights

Because this is my blog and not yours, I'm going to brag a bit. I am THIS CLOSE to the weight I was when I got married. Fifteen more pounds and I just might be able to fit into my wedding dress again. I didn't think I'd ever live to see the day!!

Further proof that I'm losing the weight? Last night my husband told me he's checking out my butt!!

I just realized....

in addition to our 15th wedding anniversary coming up at the end of the month, it has also been 15 years since I last pulled on a pair of jeans.

Sometime in the first six months of married life I put on too much weight to comfortably fit into my Levi jeans that were a staple in my college wardrobe. So I gave them up and turned to my husband's sweatpants and never looked back.

Huge mistake.

A friend of mine once told me that she never wears sweatpants for the simple reason that she won't allow herself to become that comfortable in a pair of pants.

Since I've lost some weight, I've been thinking more and more about trying out a new pair of jeans.

I just don't know what kind of jean to get.

According to Stacey and Clinton of TLC's "What Not To Wear" I should get a dark-wash, straight-legged, low waisted jean. But I need to know which brand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

**Remember the days when you were cool if you had a pair of Jordache jeans?**

vertigo

Yesterday I went to see my neurologist.

While there I told him about my bout with vertigo and he explained to me that it could have been one of two things.

Either the MS, because apparently MS patients are prone to vertigo or it was the the way I held my head in the dentists' chair.

From the National MS Society website:

Dizziness is a common symptom of MS. People with MS may feel off balance or lightheaded. Much less often, they have the sensation that they or their surroundings are spinning -- a condition known as vertigo.

These symptoms are due to lesions—damaged areas—in the complex pathways that coordinate visual, spatial, and other input to the brain needed to produce and maintain equilibrium.
Consult a physician when dizziness or vertigo becomes bothersome or lasts a long time. Usually, the symptoms respond to an anti motion-sickness drug such as
meclizine (Antivert®, Bonine®, or Dramamine®), the newer skin patches that deliver scopolamine, or the anti-nausea drug ondansetron (Zofran®). In very severe cases of dizziness or vertigo, a short course of corticosteroids.

Disorders of the Middle Ear Can Also Cause Dizziness
Other conditions that may cause dizziness include middle ear inflammation and benign tumors of the acoustic nerve that connects the ear and the brain.

Gives new meaning to the term "dizzy blonde", doesn't it?!?!

to jen, with love

Dear Jen,

You are NEVER going to look good in a pencil skirt.

As such, we would appreciate if you would quit trying to stuff us into one.

You’re not Angelina Jolie going to pick-up Maddox from school, so quit trying. It’s just not going to happen.

Yours truly,

Thunder- thighs and bubble-butt.

PS: The ankles liked the cute red shoes you tried on the other day though. They said they never felt so trim and slim.

thighs are us

Running in an endless loop through my head – “64, 64, 64 Zoo Lane”

For those of you not in the know, it’s a show on Noggin.

Also for those of you not in the know, I am out of baby powder.

That’s right. I use baby powder.

Hey listen, if YOU had the thunder thighs I have, you’d be using something to keep the chafing down to a minimum too!

So the endless loop of “64, 64, 64 Zoo Lane is accompanied by the “swish, swish” of un-powdered thighs.

did i ever tell you about the time i went to a formal event in the city? i wore pantyhose that had shiny stuff shot through them. it made the pantyhose rough to the touch. the rubbing together of my massive thighs against the rough panthyhouse created such friction that it nearly caused a small fire. and basically reduced my inner thighs to a red mass of raw flesh. my mother said it is called "galling". And apparently it runs in the family as my father (a big guy) is afflicted with the same problem from time to time. Especially in the summertime.

Also, the dress that I wore to the formal event? The zipper broke. Because I squeezed myself into a dress that fit as long as I stayed standing. The first time I sat down in the taxi I felt a pop. I had to get the attendent in the Ladies bathroom at the Waldorf Astoria to sew me into the dress. For the rest of the night, I made my friend walk into the room right behind me. And I stood with my back to a wall. After several healthy vodka tonics though, the zipper became a non-issue.

The next morning, I walked bowlegged. Like I was rode hard and put away wet.

It was a miserable night.
