an octet of non sequiturs

Try as I might, I've never gotten the knack of using chop-sticks.

I've never really liked reading poetry. It makes my head hurt.

My all-time favorite Christmas movie is "White Christmas". I always thought Vera-Ellen looked like a Barbie doll come to life.

Do you think Michelle Obama has a nickname for Barack?

There are personages of my acquaintance who are know-it-alls. After prolonged exposure, I just want to punch them in the mouth.

Did you know, Dorothy Parker was a profoundly unhappy woman with a razor tongue.  And she also had Communist leanings?

For my Snyder County friends.... I can't decide which are better - peanut butter Easter eggs or coconut cream?  Dad bought me one of each from the Beavertown Fire Company.

My favorite quote from Beaches?  "Iris Myandowski is a hand-walking queer!"

I adore "White Christmas". Every year, I gather my women friends together at the end of November, the beginning of December for the First Official Viewing of "White Christmas" for the holiday season. We comment on how Danny Kaye's socks match his pants, and we sing along on "Sister". :-)

And I imagine Michelle calls Barry "Babe". 'Cause he looks like a babe to me. ;-)

I think Michelle calls him "boo." I love teaching poetry. I can analyze the heck out of it, but I don't always get it. When the footnotes are longer than the text, somethings gotta give. White Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie. The chop sticks finally fell into place in my hand at our last sushi visit. I've been using them forever and never used them correctly, and then like a light switch turned on in my hand, and I became an old pro. I can't wait for the next visit to see if I still got skillz.

I have a girlfriend who is a know-it-all. The funny thing is that she is actually very sweet and shy, but she's also a scientist, so when there is anything factual to be discussed (even when she's not actually part of the discussion) she suddenly becomes the the unsolicited Fountain of Information.

Having said that, she doesn't do it all the time, and she's usually so kind and thoughtful that I just overlooked her annoying moments. Because that's what friends do, right? Everyone else, though, I just want to kick in the ass when they act like know-it-alls.
