Lately, my enjoyment of all things sweet and delicious has diminished due to several cavities.
I have been ignoring them for some time, but when I can't even eat peanut M&M's without wincing it is time for a visit to the dentist.
I have a dentist appointment scheduled for 5:30 today.
I am dreading this appointment.
Not because of anticipated pain, I had braces for 4 years and a little pain in the dentist chair is nothing compared to pain in the orthodontist chair!
I am dreading this visit because when my dentist asks me if I have been flossing regularly I'm going to squirm on the chair, evade the question and pretty much flat out lie to her.
Truth be told - I DON'T floss regularly, witness the three root canals I've had in the past 5 years!
So if the dentist tells me I need to have yet another root canal I will have no one to blame but myself.

I always lie too- Like they can't tell! (but if they CAN tell, then why do they ask??? It's all a trick!)
Good luck, I hope you don't need a root canal- ouch!
God. The dentist. I was just thinking the other day that I'm pretty sure I can go in for the Xrays and skip the cleaning. I hate the dentist. Hate.
I'll be thinking about you this afternoon...non-flosser that you are...
Yes, I hate when they ask too. Not because I don't floss (I do, I love my Plackers) - BUT BECAUSE THEY CAN ALREADY TELL; allknowingjen is right. And I keep getting the really annoying cocky dental tech for my cleanings, and i just want to verbally slap his jackassery each time. Makes the visit very unpleasant. I like the doc though.
They KNOW. The asking has to be an authoritarian thing though. Like when your mom asks "Did you do this?" When she already knows the answer. I think they enjoy watching you try to lie about it.
Tell 'um straight up. "No, I haven't and I'm not going to either, so there."

how'd it go?
They definitely ask just to make you squirm. It got to the point where I felt like such a loser having to tell them I wasn't flossing that I actually started flossing everyday. It's amazing what being put on the spot twice a year will motivate me to do.
