Operation

When we went out for our anniversary dinner, we went to TGIF. We went there because we had a $50.00 gift certificate. Of all the similar chain restaurants, TGIF is my least favorite. I like Ruby Tuesdays. Especially the mini-hamburgers.

TGIF has, for lack of a better word, crap all over the walls. It looks like a garage sale. One of the things that was pasted up on the wall near our booth was the game Operation. Remember that game? You had to use a tweezers to pick out the pieces and not hit the sides or the game will emit a buzzing sound and the nose will flash red and you will have lost your turn.

Tom and I were reminisincing about the game. I noted that there was a new addition to the ailments, brain freeze. I didn't remember that from my childhood game. Tom told me that he used to play Operation with his sister and cheat. Cheating at board games is a tradition for the Bergmans.

But it got me thinking about board games.....I have to say that Candyland is probably my all time favorite board game. Followed by a rousing game of Parcheesi or Trivial Pursuit.

What do you play?

My friend and I logged in hundreds of games of LIFE back in the day. We would have marathon sessions during sleepovers. No matter what we spun for jobs we somehow always ended up being either a Dr. or Lawyer, just to guarantee that rockin' salary.

These days I love the games where you have to scream or yell the answers - like Outburst. I get very excited. And very loud. Probably more fun for me than everyone else in the room.

Cranium, Scene It and Guitar Hero are also current favorites.

My favorites are Trivial Pursuit and The Game of LIFE! I'm not really a game person, but those I can get into.

Life, Scrabble, gin rummy, Trivial Pursuit, Pig Mania, UNO, and Skip-bo. All of which I still enjoy.

I'm very competitive and love them all. I think my favorite is Life because it was a lot like playing house. I never played Operation because the buzzing scared me. I thought it was going to electrocute me. I also loved playing Guess Who? and Connect Four but they aren't board games.

I a competitive person, so my friends tend to avoid playing games with me, but I absolutely love game nights anyway. :)

A few of my favorites are Taboo, Balderdash, Cranium, and Life. I also love UNO and Phase 10.

We agree about TGIF - nothing special.

I loved Operation, Clue, Sorry, Headache, Monopoly, Risk, Pictionary - we were a game playing family. Can you tell?

Actually Jen ruined me for most board games. In high school during Yearbook class our friend Ginger would read all questions from Trivial Pursuit Genus edition and Jen and I would sit and answer them. No score kept. Now that's really all i want to play 'Ask me things!'
