razor blades

Last night I went to CVS to get Tom fresh blades for his razor.

Much to my surprise and bewilderment I found that CVS keeps razor blades for the Gillette Mach3 and Mach4 and Fusion etc. under lock and key.

I had to get a cashier to unlock the case.

When I asked him why they are kept locked, he told me that people steal them.  He pointed to the empty case where the Fusion blades would normally be and said "This case was left unlocked and someone cleaned us out."

This begs the question "Why are people stealing razor blades?"

Are razor blades locked up in your neck of the woods?

Delurk to tell me.  I need to know.  This could keep me up nights!

Yes! That and baby formula. They are necessities that are relatively expensive, so they get lifted a lot more than things that aren't necessary. Worth risking a shoplifting charge to feed your baby or stay hygenic, right? Maybe not so much worth it for a bottle of wine or something . . .

I have heard that they use the blades to open dvds and other things like that to steal them and then they stick the blades in different places throught the store, like in packs of socks and pockets of jeans where other people can hurt themselves. I don't know what is wrong with people!

They are so expensive... that's why...
But i have a plan, tommorrow i'm going to go buy a fusion razor and a 4 pack of blades... about 22$... i have 8$ worth of coupons from fusion... 8.98 in extra care rewards and a 5$ cvs 'extra' off on 25$ (yes, i'll have to pick up 3$ worth of other stuff too... probably b1g1 makeup i have coupons for...) in the end that's the only 3$ i'll be spending... oh, and they'll give me a 5$ extra care coupon for next time too...

I love CVS... its like my video game... I used to do the crossword on Sunday morning, but 'playinig' the CVS flyer is a lot more fun...

I believe I HAVE seen razor blades locked up at some of my neighborhood drug stores, so it's not just your neck 'o the woods. I don't really pay attention to that, though, because I'm too busy trolling for my kids' liquid nasal decongestant which, although no prescription is required, has to be dispensed from the pharmacy so they can be sure I'm not purchasing enough bottles of the stuff to produce meth at home. Thank goodness I only have two kids. I wonder what Nadya Suleman would do.
