Theme Songs

I realized the other day that not only is there a dearth of good half-hour sitcoms on TV but the sitcoms that are on don’t have the quality theme songs of the sitcoms of yore.

Can you name them all?!

1) Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed
Then one day he was shootin at some food
And up through the ground came a bubblin crude

2) Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship

3)Here we come
Walking down the street
We get the funniest looks from
Everyone we meet.

4)Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day,and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it

5)Hello, world, hear the song that we're singin'
C'mon get happy!
A whole lot of lovin' is what we'll be bringin'
We'll make you happy!

6)One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
Schlemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated
We're gonna do it!

7)Just two good ole boys,
Never meaning no harm.
Beats all you never saw, been in trouble with the law
Since the day they was born.

8)I'll bet we've been together for a million years
And I'll bet we'll be together for a million more
Oh, It's like I started breathing
On the nite we kissed
And I can't remember what I ever did before

9) Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came.

10)Look at what's happened to me,
I can't believe it myself.
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
It should've been somebody else.
Believe it or not,I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.

11) Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

12) Come and knock on our door
We've been waiting for you
Where the kisses are hers and hers and his
Three's company, too!

13) Show me that smile again. (Show me that smile)
Don't waste another minute on your cryin'.
We're nowhere near the end (nowhere near)
The best is ready to begin.

14) Boy the way Glen Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made,
Those were the days.

15) Thank you for being a friend.
Travel down the road and back again.
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.
And if you threw a party,
invited everyone you knew.
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
and the card attached would say,
thank you for being a friend.

16) Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

17) Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.
But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.

18)What ever happened to predictibility?
The milkman, the paperboy, evening TV.
Everywhere you look , everywhere you go (there's a heart).
There's a heart
A hand to hold onto.

19)Maybe the world is blind,
Or just a little unkind.
Don't know.

20)You take the good, you take the bad,
you take them both and there you have
The Facts of Life, the Facts of Life.

Give me some more

I can't remember the name of #10 and I don't know #19! The rest I got by the first line... *shame*

What about:
1) Baby, If you've ever wondered
Wondered whatever became of me

2)I don't need you to worry for me cause I'm alright
I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home
I don't care what you say anymore, this is my life
Go ahead with your own life, and leave me alone

3)So no one told you life gonna be this way
Your job's a joke
You're broke
Your lovelife's DOA

4)Love... exciting and new,
Come aboard,
We're expecting you-

And love, life's sweetest reward,
Let it float.
It floats back to you-

5)Tell me why,
I love you like I do,
Tell me who,
Can stop my heart as much as you,
Tell me all your secrets,
and I'll tell you most of mine,
They say nobody's perfect,
Well, that's really true this time,
I don't have all the answers,
I don't have a plan,
All I have is you,
So darling, help me understand

Ok- I have to stop now- this is addicting!
(I *might* watch a little too much TV)

I am proud to say I knew them all except for 8... Go Me!!! I wrote them all out on paper to list, but they were already there, typed in the comments... What is 8?????

I think I got most of them right.

Is it wrong that my heart still flutters when I hear the Monkees theme song? I used to have the most awful crush on Davy Jones.

I'm stuck on 8 & 13 too.

but name this one!!!

Some walk by night,
Some fly by day.
Nothing could change you,
Set and sure of the way.

Charming and bright,
Laughing and gay.
I'm just a stranger,
Love the Blues and the Braves.

There is the sun and moon
Facing their old, sweet tune.
Watch them when dawn is due
Sharing one space.

Some walk by night,
Some fly by day.
Something is sweeter
When you meet 'long the way.

So come walk the night,
Come fly by day.
Something is sweeter
'Cause we met 'long the way.

This list brought back memories! I love the Mary Tyler Moore Show and Welcome Back Kotter! And who doesn't love Cheers and the Golden Girls! The sit-coms aren't as funny anymore at all! I think this might be a sign that I'm growing old....

Now this is the story all about how,
My life got flipped, turned upside down,
And I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there,
I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

(Making white people all over the world feel gangsta.)

I have a couple more for you:

Meet Cathy, who's lived most everywhere,
From Zanzibar to Barclay Square.
But Patty's only seen the sights
A girl can see from Brooklyn Heights — What a crazy pair!

And...

They’re creepy and they're kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They’re all together ooky
